Special Election
A Special Election is any election that is not regularly scheduled. A special election may be held for any purpose authorized or required by law; often to fill a vacancy or for a public measure.
All eligible electors in the School Districts of Mount Ayr and Bedford will vote at the Ringgold County Courthouse, 109 W. Madison St., Mount Ayr, IA 50854.
Voter Registration
Pre-registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Monday, August 26. Persons wishing to participate in this election who register to vote after August 26, 2024, will be required to provide proof of identification (i.e. current and valid photo identification card with an expiration date), AND proof of residency in their voting precinct, when they go to the polls on election day, or when they request an absentee ballot. Other provisions may also apply. Persons not registered to vote by August 26, 2024, should expect a longer processing time at the polls on election day.
Absentee Ballots
Absentee Ballots will be available the week of August 21, 2024, for mail and in-person voting.
The last day an absentee ballot may be mailed to a voter for this election is Monday, August 26, 2024.
In-person absentee voting in the office of the Ringgold County Auditor closes at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024.
Requests for absentee ballots must be in writing and should be mailed or delivered to:

Voted absentee ballots returned by mail MUST be returned no later than 8:00 p.m. on ELECTION DAY, Tuesday, September 10, 2024 to be considered on time to be counted.
