A Special Election is any election that is not regularly scheduled. A special election may be held for any purpose authorized or required by law; often to fill a vacancy or for a public measure.
All eligible electors in the City of Mount Ayr will vote at the Ringgold County Courthouse, 109 W. Madison St., Mount Ayr, IA 50854.
Voter Registration
Pre-registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Monday, July17, 2023. Persons wishing to participate in this election who register to vote after July 17, 2023, will be required to provide proof of identification (i.e. current and valid photo identification card with an expiration date), AND proof of residency in their voting precinct, when they go to the polls on election day, or when they request an absentee ballot. Other provisions may also apply. Persons not registered to vote by July 17, 2023, should expect a longer processing time at the polls on election day.
Absentee Ballots
Absentee Ballots will be available the week of July 17, 2023, for mail and in-person voting.
The last day an absentee ballot may be mailed to a voter for this election is Monday, July 17, 2023.
In-person absentee voting in the office of the Ringgold County Auditor closes at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023.
Requests for absentee ballots must be in writing and should be mailed or delivered to:

Voted absentee ballots returned by mail MUST be returned no later than 8:00 p.m. on ELECTION DAY, Tuesday, August 1, 2023 to be considered on time to be counted.
